Explore Zanzibar In 2023–2024

Explore Zanzibar In 2023–2024 :  Africa’s Mysterious And Secret Island : We made the decision to travel to the north after visiting Stone Town, Zanzibar. As soon as we arrived at our new location and took in the breathtaking views and lovely bird sounds, peace and harmony descended upon us.

It’s true that many people long to travel to Zanzibar and escape their daily lives. Imagine unwinding by the ocean, spending time with your loved ones, learning about a new culture, and making new friends. You will receive exactly that if you choose to spend your vacation here.

We can be a little sensitive as a family of digital nomads who balance work, travel, and a generally very dynamic lifestyle. When you have a packed travel schedule and have to relocate several times in one month, at some point your mental stamina starts to wane, and you start to feel like you’re on the verge of burnout.

Arriving at a location like this, where you are unable to leave because of the lengthy drive to get there and the fact that you lack a car, can be a blessing in such circumstances. You can reenergize yourself by spending time in such a tranquil setting and following the Zanzibar diet, which consists primarily of fruit, vegetables, and fish.

If you ask us, we would adore spending at least a month here in order to unwind and appreciate life’s slower pace. The fact that the entire region is completely off the grid and powered entirely by solar panels (solar energy) is another reason why you should be eager to take this trip. Let’s talk about how you can visit this heaven on earth too!

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT ZANZIBAR ISLAND?

The largest and most visited island in the Zanzibar Archipelago is Zanzibar Island (Unguja). It had been inhabited by people for over 20,000 years. The central island has a lot of different experiences to offer thanks to its varied coastline. Over the years, both tourists and residents had come to associate the name Zanzibar with the term exotic.

More than just impressive palm trees, azure water, and lovely shores can be found here. Stone Town, the historic core of Zanzibar, is a World Heritage Site. For more information about our trip to this amazing location, be sure to get in touch with us at Focus East Africa Tours

Unguja is a beautiful location where you can get away from the stress of daily life. People from all over the world reside there, and this diversity is what makes it such a special place to visit.

The main industries in this region are tourism, raffia, and spices. The Zanzibar Archipelago’s islands are sometimes even referred to as the “Spice Islands” because of their long history in the spice trade.

WHAT TO VISIT ON ZANZIBAR ISLAND

 Zanzibar East Coast

This area is home to many hotels and resorts, as well as all of the island’s most stunning beaches. Due to the tidal range of the Indian Ocean, you might need to walk a bit to get to the best location for swimming or snorkeling. Many visitors to the East Coast opt to stop for the day at the Kiwengwa-Pongwe Forest Reserve or to take a break from their journey in Stone Town at the remains of Dunga Palace.

Zanzibar’s North Coast

This region is where you should go if you want to find beaches that are less crowded and more private. This area of the Zanzibar Archipelago is least affected by the tidal range. Numerous fantastic beach resorts can be found on Zanzibar’s north coast. The majority of them provide a range of excursions, boat trips, diving, village tours, and water sports. You won’t be bored if you come here, whether by yourself or with your family.

Zanzibar’s North-East Coast

Mnemba

The northeastern beaches of Zanzibar are home to the majority of the island’s upscale hotels. Here, the tidal variation is ideal for scuba diving. Mnemba Island, which is situated about three kilometers off the coast of this area of Unguja, is home to some of the most stunning reefs in the archipelago.

The village of Matemwe, which is about 50 kilometers northeast of Stone Town, and the Matemwe beach are home to a large number of hotels.

Zanzibar West Coast

In comparison to the ones we’ve already mentioned, the atmosphere on the west coast is a little different. There aren’t many hotels and lodges in this area, but if you want to learn more about Zanzibar’s history and culture, you should visit.

Stone Town, Zanzibar’s historic capital, is located on the west coast. Additionally, Nungwi’s West Coast Beach, the center of the tourism industry in Northern Zanzibar, is situated here. It might be a little annoying to see all the teenagers on the beach trying to sell snorkeling trips and other services, but keep in mind that this is how they make a living.

You should be aware that this is where Zanzibar’s wildest nightlife can be found if you want to party. However, there are also more formal restaurants that serve delicious seafood of the highest caliber while providing the ideal ocean views.

Zanzibar South Coast

Come to the south coast if you’re looking for a more populated area where you can interact with both tourists and locals. You’ll have the chance to see more of the area and discover more about the culture by mingling with the locals.

When deciding where to stay on the southern shore of Unguja, most people opt for Kizimkazi, a remarkable, authentic African village. Tourists adore Kizimkazi’s entertaining dolphin tours. If you’re looking for a cultural experience, you’ll be happy to know that Kizimkazi is home to East Africa’s oldest mosque.

Zanzibar, South East Coast

Although the tidal range is greater in this area, there are still lots of charming resorts and gorgeous beaches there. A warm sea breeze that controls mosquito populations and reduces the need for air conditioning.

The south-east coast will offer you everything you need if you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation. The best time to visit this location is in July because of the vibrant Mwaka Kongwe Festival and the traditional Shirazi/Persian New Year celebration that takes place nearby.

PRO TIPS FOR INTERESTED TRAVELERS

Please read the following advice carefully, as it is unique to our experience on the Unguja and cannot be found anywhere else:

You should stay in the Kidoti Wild Garden, as we advise. Right by the ocean, it’s the ideal location for relaxation. You can try kayaking there if you’d like, and there is a nice sitting area. You can just play cards, relax, and bond here, and it will be the most wonderful time. On Earth, it is a paradise. However, you will need to travel a rough road to get here, so be ready for that.

The fresh food that grows in their garden is used to prepare all of the delectable meals at this lodging. This is amazing considering that the meals typically include a lot of nutritious fruit and vegetables.

Pancakes with papaya, banana, orange, and pineapple, or something similar, are typically served for breakfast.

You will receive a cooked meal for lunch; you must try their fish masala, which is essentially fish with vegetables, rice, and salad.

You can order something light and healthy for dinner, like their delicious pumpkin soup.

A lovely fire is lit next to the ocean every night after dinner. This is a great time for introspection and daydreaming about tomorrow.

You can ask locals to show you a shortcut that will take you to Nungwi, a location with the best beaches, where you can take a bus or a taxi. Along the way, you will also get the chance to see a lot of resorts. You can pay $10 to enter one of the resorts’ private beaches if you want to avoid the crowds.

Toiletries (toothpaste, conditioner, shampoo, shower gel, etc.) are something you should definitely bring with you because they are more expensive in Zanzibar. Since they are not as expensive as those in America and Western Europe, let’s be honest. Simply put, they are more expensive than in other Third World nations.

You might find water fountains nearby where locals hydrate with clean water. You might be surprised to learn that they all drink from the same cup that is set down next to the fountain. Although it may seem unsanitary, kindly respect their ways.
